"When I got to London I went straight off to St. Paul’s to the Memorial Service for the Titanic... St. Chrysostom’s Liturgy sung by the men was beautiful and the roll of the drums through the Dome in the Dead March made an appeal almost physical in its effect... one man opposite me dropped to the ground before the first roll was done. He poor man turned out to be Carlisle the designer of the ship."
