"On Wed. morning... I was roused into activity by an order from the First Lord to come on deck immediately & see the approach to Malta harbour... We drifted into the most wonderful harbour I have ever seen... Kitchener looking quite splendid (treble life size) but alas dressed as a civilian in a Homburg hat."
"Beloved... I did not like to be away while possible demands might recur for your Father's return. As you know another request for this was put forward yesterday this time not from the King, but from all his colleagues who were in London... I have just had your Father's telegram telling me to wire reasons for his return to Bizerta & I must forthwith attend to that."
