Cloudy

Correspondence (1 of 1)

Letter #7Time not recorded
"

I wish I had stayed (if you would have had me) at Alderley over Monday evening. It was dismally dull here... I am bothered with various things - the latest being certain follies wh. Rufus Isaacs & Ll. George have committed in regard to Marconi shares.

Asquith complains of the dullness of London compared to Alderley and mentions the emerging Marconi scandal.

Mentioned:Sir John Simon • Lewis Harcourt • G. Murray • Welby • Blowitz • Gambetta • Rufus Isaacs • Lloyd George

"I think I wrote to you last just at Xmas... We were deserted on Monday by everyone and left to the dullest flattest week... However Friday brought a fresh influx, Bluey, Geoffrey... and the Prime. It was his maiden visit here... Next week I am going abroad to Switzerland with Oliver for a fortnight..."
