Asquith reflected on their Friday drive before leaving London for the weekend with his family.

In-Person Meeting
H.H. Asquith
London
HIS DAYMeeting with David Lloyd George in the morning (discussing C.F.G. Masterman's election prospects)
Venetia Stanley
London (prob. West End)
HER DAYMost likely in London, keeping to her usual pre-war round of dinners/visits with political-society friends (the sort of engagement Asquith alludes to when he says he is ‘quite in the dark’ about her week, except that she was dining with the Lyells).. Very likely writing to/receiving letters from Asquith and arranging (or being asked to arrange) time with him for the coming week—he is pressing to see her on “Friday afternoon” and again to travel with him the following Wednesday.. Preparing for (and probably discussing) the planned joint trip with Asquith the next week: “Wed morning to Shrewsbury & thence by motor.”
