H.H. Asquith
The Wharf, Sutton Courtenay
HIS DAYWeekend leisure (Asquith was aware of the Archduke's assassination this day but 'took no notice' at the time)
Venetia Stanley
West End / Mayfair (probable)
HER DAYLikely in London for the weekend, moving in the June ‘season’ round of dinners, theatre/opera, and private visits (the pattern of her life in these days).. Possible social call/meeting with Asquith on or around that weekend (their letters show regular Friday/Saturday encounters in late June), though nothing surviving pins them together on the 28th specifically.. Reading and discussing politics privately with intimates (her usual role with Asquith), rather than any public/political ‘appearance’ of her own.
