We had a Cabinet yesterday . . . mainly to talk about war & peace. I am afraid that Grey's experiment of a Conference à quatre won't come off . . . As you would see, we had a real rough and tumble debate in the evening.

Asquith discusses the Cabinet meeting on war/peace, Grey's proposal for a conference, and the "rough and tumble" debate in the House.

Mentioned:Winston Churchill • Sir Edward Grey • Bonar Law • Birrell • Sir John French
