Letter #119Night
"

It was no use my darling writing you a letter to-day . . . I have also rather a pathetic . . . letter from M. de Broqueville . . . The only authentic news we have to-day . . . is that one of our best & biggest battleships - the Monarch - was very nearly torpedoed this morning at Scapa Flow . . .

Asquith mentions a letter from the Belgian PM, Winston's request for Ivor Guest, and a scare about a submarine at Scapa Flow.

Mentioned:Paul Cambon • de Broqueville • Winston Churchill • Ivor Guest • Lambert • King George V • James Dunn • Sir Edward Grey • Viscount Haldane • Edwin Montagu • Violet Asquith • Maurice Bonham Carter • Arthur Asquith • Jack Tennant • Seely
