We have just had some very bad news: the worst, I think, since the war began. Three good & powerful cruisers . . . were sunk this morning in the North Sea.

Asquith reports the sinking of the Cressy, Aboukir, and Hogue, German cruisers at large, New Zealand escort problem, and Kitchener's admission about recruits' supplies.
