"

. . . I hoped to have heard this morning from Winston some news as to how the bombardment had begun . . . It is curious that we shd have passed yesterday that rather squalid little house in Liverpool Road in which I spent the best part of two years of my youth.

Asquith mentions the start of the Dardanelles bombardment and reminisces about his youth and early theatre-going.

Mentioned:Winston Churchill • Mrs Kendal • Thomas Henry Huxley • Charles Darwin
