Five German Navy Zeppelins attempted to bomb London; one was intercepted by Royal Flying Corps pilot John Slessor, but the raid killed 71 people and injured 128.. British forces made one final attack to regain the Hohenzollern Redoubt but suffered 3,643 casualties.. British poet Charles Sorley was killed in action during the Battle of Loos.
