British and Indian soldiers under Charles Townshend attacked Ottoman troops at the Battle of Ctesiphon in Mesopotamia.. The French evacuated from Vardar Macedonia following the defeat of Serbian forces.
"They returned from Paris on Thursday night [18 November], and D. drove straight to W.H. I was there waiting for him. D. had brought me a sweet brooch... & a charming Napoléon premier clock... As far as I can make out, nothing very much was settled in Paris."
