British forces advanced on the town of Oghratina in the Sinai Peninsula following the Battle of Romani.. German forces launched a counter-assault on the O.G. Lines captured by Australian troops at the Battle of Pozières.. The Sixth Battle of the Isonzo began, resulting in 20,000 casualties before Italian forces pushed back the Austro-Hungarians.
